Can we agree on a new source for player positions? NHL.com is horrible at updates and trying to find unaffiliated players is nearly impossible...

If the NHL site doesn't add a player search to their site, we may have to.
Any particular site or sites you have in mind? I'm asking everybody.
Assume I have a player listed as RW. The new site says LW. Do I get both?
Assume I have a player listed as LW and RW. The new site says just LW. Do I lose RW?
What if the new site lists many players as Winger or Forward?
I have around 2000 players listed in my database, that would be a lot of checking and updating.
What are everyone's thoughts?

Case Study: Emil Bremstrom CDHL - C/R NHL.com - RW ESPN - RW Sports Forecaster - RW CapFriendly - RW/LW Daily Faceoff - LW CBS Sports - C Dobber Prospects - RW Dobber Player Profile - LW ( lol, even the same site cant decide) HockeyDB - RW
How about forward lol.
I've found Hockey DB to be as accurate as any site, You could also find your non affiliated players there as well. Just a thought. I think no matter what is decided that we would have to grandfather current players to what they are now on CDHL. GM's have made trades because of multiple positions and it wouldn't be fair to change it in one fowl swoop. If we do change to another source for positions I think it should be as accurate as possible, if a player is listed as a RW on HockeyDB and then changes to LW, who's monitoring it? Yikes, big job!!
I know players move around but what are they primarily used for, Brent Burns is not a RW, he's a D, Malkin is not a winger, he's a center. HockeyDB seems to be as accurate as any site!
Just some thoughts!

Thank you. That's exactly the kind of reply I was hoping for. Not just I'm for it or against it, but researched.
I noticed Yahoo gives players a lot of multiple positions, and they update them often. That would be hard to track, plus if almost every player is listed at multiple positions, we might as well just call everyone a forward, and I don't want to do that.
I'm not against picking another site, and the NHL site is kind of useless without a player search, so the problem might be what site to pick.
I could agree with grandfathering in, unless too many players gained an extra position.
Example: We say RW, it says LW, so they get both? Maybe for one or two seasons, then to the LW only? Or does a 19 year old player get to be both for his career?
Stuff to consider.

I think we should consider 2 things when deciding
1) most accurate 2) ease for AJ to use
When AJ inputs the players in CDHL the original time after their draft year what ever position is listed at that time ( on which ever site we choose) would be the assigned position. After that it would be up to the GM's to check themselves. Like now if you find a different position it would be then added, It shouldnt be an automatic update, the GM's who put in the effort would be rewarded.

Yegor Sharangovich, NJD: C/LW (lost RW)
Yeah. That's up to date.
