Ok Guys
Just like in the NHL when you win you want more money and get it. Our league should reflect this. Chicago had to sell to stay under cap - Tampa had to this year as well.

I don’t mind adding a small bit of time to player salaries for winning a championship as long as we reduce the number of games added to the first 3 picks at every draft. I did state this on one thread but it was the wrong one!! Not sure how this happened but it did!! My point is that we all work so hard to build a championship team and then have to find ways to slowly disassemble it to keep it together. I suggested we reduce the number of games added to the first 3 picks from 300, 200 and 100 to 150, 100 and 50. That’s about 1 to 2 years more time to have these guys on your team.

I think 200 for 1st is probably a good idea. That likely gives you at least two years maybe three before the jump. That would be in line with the three year rookie salary cap in the NHL. NHL rookies are eligible for bonuses based on performance. We could work in something like that as well. For example in the NHL a rookie forward who scores 20 goals is eligible for up to an 850,000 dollar bonus. We could add a few games.

EDIT: I've changed my mind, I like it as it is. If you are drafting first because you came in last, the 300 games should not make any difference right away. If you traded for the pick, then you should have a plan for the extra games. In the NHL after 3 years a first overall pick gets the big raise. In our league the next bump would take a minimum of two years, probably three. It would take another 4 years minimum for the player to reach the top salary, which if he was any good would happen in the NHL sooner than that. So I'm ok with the 300.
