Kevin Smith has pointed out to me that there is a link on the NHL website for fantasy hockey. On the page this link brings up is a ranking of the top 150 or so forwards in the NHL. The positions shown on this page are not necessarily the same as the NHL player information page. Many of the players are shown as playing multiple positions. He was wondering if these positions could be used in the CDHL.
Pros: It would be great to have players on your team that can play multiple positions.
Could benefit people who pay the most attention.
These positions are probably closer to real life.
Cons: Only 150 or so forwards listed at a time.
Would we use only the positions on that page?
Could make drafting or trading for players at a certain position unnecessary.
More work for me. I will not be checking hundreds of players every day to see if they have lost or gained a position. (This page looks like it might change a lot. It lists things like day to day injuries, etc.)
Personally, I like having just one resource for player positions even if they are wrong. I fear eventually it could become unnecessary to even have left, center and right. Just play 9 forwards and 6 defencemen.
I would also like to monitor that page for a while, just to see how often stuff changes, before doing anything.
So, what do you think about it? I'll wait for some replies, maybe put up a poll later if needed.

They are using the positions listed by Yahoo Fantasy Hockey. I guess that is the most popular mainstream fantasy hockey site.
