In three of the last four seasons, the Legends have finished in third place in the Premier Division. Two years ago they won it all, and made it look easy. Perhaps history can repeat itself this year. Small salary cap issues, but all fixable at no real cost this year.
The Legends don't have any real superstars on offence, but they do have probably the best depth in the league. Every player on their first three lines is capable of a point a game, so their odds of having a stinker game are low. Monahan, Aho, Marner, Forsberg, all under 25, maybe one of them will become his superstar this year. Other than Michael Rasmussen there is not a whole lot in the pipeline, most of his best young guys are already playing. Offence rating: 6th
The Legends real strengh lies in their defence. Hedman and Karlsson lead they way, both more than a point per game players. Roman Josi is right behind them, a good year and he too could be a point per gamer. But that's not all, Gardner and Shattenkirk are good enough to be some teams 2nd line of defencemen. To add to the rest of the leagues woes, he has two promising players in the system in Juuso Valimaki and Rasmus Andersson. So no problem here. Defence rating: 1st
With that defence and all that depth this is a team that has a lock on a playoff spot and could once again go all the way.
Breakout Player: Andre Burakovsky
Top Rookie: Juuso Valimaki
Season Prediction: 29 - 19 - 6 - 64 pts, 3rd place Premier Division, 4th overall.
