Give this a thought. Let's say we use something like Yahoo. Many players with multiple positions, or as per James last post, many players gaining one position and losing another.
We don't lose any positions that the player already has in our league. At the beginning of our season, if the player has lost that position and gained another one, the CDHL coach can pick either the new listed position, or keep the old one. The player will only be able to use that position for the season.
Or there could be a point in the season, maybe like say January 1st, when the coach can check all his players and maybe change some positions. Could be handy to cover injuries or trades. Then the player would keep that position for the remainder of the season. Or maybe do the same thing when the playoffs start. But you only get to use one position.
Maybe some combination of the above.
I'm going to use Matt Duchesne as an example, because it is a weird one.
We have Matt as C,L. Yahoo says he is now RW. The Roadrunners would have the option at the start of the year to play him at his old positions C/LW or at his new position, RW. If he plays him at RW, he loses the other two positions, he is now just a RW. If we choose to do the midway check, and lets say Yahoo now has him at C and RW, he can again pick one position, and that will be his new position. And then once again, at the start of the playoffs, if we decide to do that.
Once you have made your pick, there is no going back to the old position(s). You can only change them if Yahoo does. Up to the coaches to track their player positions and pick the one they want. Any free agent pickups during the season, will remain at what is currently showing in our database until the beginning of the next season. If a players shows LW on our site, but RW on Yahoo, the LW stands until next season.
